Capsule lets you swap out media inside a project while keeping all of your existing components intact — including branded elements, layout choices, and timing. This makes it easy to reuse proven formats and speed up repeatable video creation.

What This Feature Does

When you duplicate a project, you can now replace the media while preserving:

  • Branded elements (logos, lower thirds, colors)

  • Layout choices

  • Existing components and structure

Instead of starting over, you’re building on a project that already works.

How It Works

1. Duplicate a Project

Start by duplicating any project you want to reuse. This creates a copy with all components and their properties intact.

  1. Click the 3 dots on the project you want to duplicate

  2. Select Duplicate

2. Rename the Project

Open the duplicated project and update the name so it’s easy to distinguish from the original. This helps keep repeat versions organized.

3. Replace the Media

Swap in new media (video or image) to replace the original source. All existing components remain in place, aligned to the new media.

  1. Click the 3 dots on the media you will replace

  2. Click Replace

  3. Upload new media

4. Tweak and Update Components

Make any final adjustments as needed:

  • Update text or graphics

  • Adjust layouts to fit the new content

Just remember: you’re editing, not rebuilding.

Why This Is Useful

  • Save time on repeatable formats like podcasts, interviews, and social clips

  • Maintain consistency across videos without manual rework

  • Scale content creation by reusing layouts and branded elements

  • Set the foundation for template-based workflows in Capsule

Best Practices

  • Start with a well-structured project you’ll want to reuse

  • Keep branding and layout components flexible for different content

  • Use clear naming conventions for duplicated projects

This feature makes duplicated projects far more powerful — and turns your best work into reusable building blocks.

❓ FAQ

What happens to my existing edits when I replace the media?

All existing components stay intact. You can make adjustments after replacing the media, but nothing is removed automatically.

Can I replace the media multiple times?

Yes. You can swap out the media again at any point and continue refining the project.

Does the length of the new media matter?

This feature works best when swapping in media that’s similar in length to the original. If you replace the media with something much shorter or longer, your components will remain intact, but they may adjust to fit the reduced timeline since there’s less space available. This is particularly relevant for overlayed components. You can fine-tune components after swapping the media.

Will this change the original project?

No. Replacing media only affects the duplicated project. The original project remains unchanged.

What types of projects work best with this?

This feature is ideal for repeatable formats like podcasts or interview series, social video templates, recurring announcements or updates, and branded content with consistent structure.

Do I need to reapply branding or layouts?

No. All branding, layouts, and components from the duplicated project carry over automatically.

Is this the same as templates?

This feature makes duplicated projects more powerful and lays the groundwork for future template-based workflows.
